Snakes in Space is the second Capture The Flag map in MM8BDM. Already using an unconventional theme, it consists of two large asteroids floating in deep space attached to each other by two Big Snakeys! The snakes are aboviously from Snake Man's Stage, but the main body of the asteroids are made of Skull Man's Stage's tiles. Small balconies from Bomb Man also appear, and the torches lining the walls are from Knight Man. And of course, the starry background is totally from Star Man's Stage.

Layout

Each team's flag is in the exact center of the square asteroids. The middle room containing it features Ice Slasher, Bubble Lead, Napalm Bomb and a W-Tank. This is area is separated from an outer square ring which contains a Thunder Beam to the east and west, Needle Cannon at every corner and Wild Coil to the back. Opposite the Wild Coil's side, the Crystal Eye is found beside an E-Tank.

The two snakes acting as a bridge between asteroids are also found on this side, as well as matching balconies with a Tango Roll and Magnet Missile in the corners. Mag-Flies from Magnet Man's Stage fly overhead here, and can carry players from balcony to balcony. Careful, the gravity is low outside either asteroid, but this makes it possible to land on a platform with several energy refills in the map's exact center.

Strategy

While playing defense or offense, Magnet Missile is your weapon of choice. With it, it's easy to stop or weaken enemies crossing the map's central expanse of space. Its speed also makes it ideal for catching foes in the wide outer ring of the asteroid. Otherwise, you're stuck trying to trap players with the slow Bubble Lead or Ice Slasher, which can still be a good strategy on the narrow snake platforms.

To help out on the attack, simply wait in the outer ring of the opposing team's base, which is very spacious and easy to hide in. When the time for an assault comes, you can help out by firing Magnet Missile, Wild Coil or Napalm Bomb from the grates separating the outer ring from the flag!

Modifications

V3A to V3B

Another way to get from one base to another was added : using Mag-Flies. In versions older than V3B, they didn't appear.
