Freeze Cracker fires a chunk of ice that splits into six (Technically seven, but two overlap) shards that fly directly out from the impact point. It is a fairly average but annoying frontal assault weapon. Although its damage may seem lackluster on paper, the rapid rate of fire and capability to flood a room with its give it an interesting damage per second. It's typically readily available to collect and boot, so it's a great weapon to grab and run into the fray.

Tactics

Using Freeze Cracker

If you're in a crowded room, there's no need for strategy. Simply let loose at the nearest robot and let the ice fly; the shards will help you rack up some extra damage even if you end up hitting a wall. If you're going one on one, the strategy is much the same. If you're walled in, fire directly at the enemy as the wall will shatter the cracker. If you're in the open, aim downwards. The cracker will shatter, but it will be much easier to jump over. Remember to keep an eye on your ammo count, as 14 shots isn't much for something that fires so rapidly.


Vs. Freeze Cracker

Try to stay in the open against someone using Freeze Cracker, and get an idea of when you can jump to avoid the shards. Although the shards are annoying, remember that the main shots are the real threat. Beyond that, try to use a hard hitting melee weapon to stop the chaos from whittling you down. Whatever you do, don't charge at them head on! Freeze Cracker can knock someone out in only a few hits if the target is moving forward, as they collide with more of the shards. If all else fails, remember that Freeze Cracker's high rate of fire burns through ammunition very quickly.
