Dr. Light's Lab is the main hub of Story Mode. It houses several facilities and Robot Masters that the player can listen to. The weather outside the lab varies upon each visit; alternating between sunny, rainy, and snowy.
Much like the Unknown map, it is unplayable in normal multiplayer; attempting to do so will automatically redirect all players to Cut Man's stage after a few seconds. The player always returns to the lab after clearing the first five and ninth Story Mode chapters.
The player spawns outside the lab, where the truck Auto drives, a fountain, a pond, and a hanging tyre similar to the hanging tyres from Turbo Man's stage can be found. Ice Man, Cut Man, Fire Man, and Bomb Man are also located in various places outside.
Walking through the front door allows you to enter the lab's main foyer area, with Rush, Tango, and Elec Man. To the left of the main foyer is a door blocked off with a construction strip; looking into the window of the room behind from outside the lab reveals several Picket Men hard at work inside constructing the room. To the right is Auto (accompanied by Eddie), who offers a training simulation to the player, and an exit to an outdoor patio with Oil Man. In the training simulator, the player can select a variety of weapons for both himself/herself and the opponent's.
Ahead of the foyer is a corridor which leads to the Robot Master Wardrobe run by Roll, and a briefing room run by Dr. Light, accompanied by Beat and Time Man. At the end of the corridor is a room of unknown purpose guarded by Guts Man.
Here are the only skins available in the Robot Master Wardrobe. If you want a skin that is not here, go to the player options in the menu.
There are some secrets located in Dr.Light's lab.
- Dr. Light's Lab is one of the few maps in Mega Man 8-Bit Deathmatch that does not contain a hidden Yashichi.
- If the player selects Thunder Claw in the training simulation and defeats the opponent, the player can use it to swing around on Beat's cage as if it was a normal Thunder Claw peg.
- It is possible to be killed by shooting the swinging tire in the yard and catching the ricocheting Mega Buster shots.
